Executive Committee News:
We hope everyone is keeping safe during these difficult times especially as the situation is continually changing which affects everyone personally and professionally. The Committees are working together to provide advice and guidance for planning and teaching IBITA courses. Please contact the Executive Committee for all exemptions and questions.
Instructor-Candidates are also affected by the cancellation and postponement of their assistantships. Please remember that any instructor can have an instructor-candidate assisting on a Basic Course and it is only the pre-qualification course that requires an MEI to be in the teaching teamAGM information

Treasurer Report Recorded Presentation: It is usual practice for the Treasurer to present a report in-person, in addition to the posted written reports. Given we shall not meet in person before voting this year, a recorded Treasurer report is linked to the AGM Agenda in addition to the written reports.

All voting this year will be by postal vote only. Postal votes will only be accepted from full members who have completed their SIS by June 30th AND paid their subscriptions by August 15th   The postal vote form has been emailed to full members and is also available via this LINK. The postal vote form must be submitted by 21st August and the results will be announced at the Extraordinary Zoom meeting on 29th August. It is important for our organisation that all eligible members submit their postal vote.

Extraordinary Zoom meeting 29th August 2pm-4pm Sweden time.

The meeting shall be run as a Zoom Webinar and shall consist of one-hour Executive Committee facilitated information, including the announcement of voting outcomes, and one-hour education.  The Education Component will be a presentation by Dr. Kim Brock. The title will be “New directions in rehabilitation research – new opportunities for the Bobath concept?”

Webinar “Revised definition of the Bobath concept”
Following the publication of a revised definition of the Bobath concept:Phase 3 [published in Physiotherapy Research International Volume 25, Issue 3, July 2020 and online December 2019] the Education Committee along with Julie Vaughan-Graham and Marc Michielsen are pleased to present to the membership a webinar on the revised definition with the aim for Instructors and Instructor Candidates to feel more confident in incorporating into their teaching practices.
The session will include a short presentation on the revised definition and a question and answer session, with questions submitted prior to the session.  We would like to invite questions relating to the practical application of the revised definition on both Basic and Advanced Courses.

Questions must be submitted one week in advance of the seminar – by Saturday 12thSeptember. Pleased submit your questions to [email protected]
The date of the Webinar will be Saturday 19th September 2020 TIMEZONE 5pm EUROPE / 11am TORONTO
The webinar will be repeated Saturday 26th September 2020 TIMEZONE 7pm MELBOURNE / 2pm EUROPE.

Neurophysiology Workbook
The Neurophysiology Workbook working group would like to present the draft chapter on Postural Control.

Mrs Bobath has been chosen as one of the ten greatest physiotherapists in the world. On the occasion of the 125th anniversary of the founding of the Society of Trained Masseuses in the United Kingdom in 2019, the International Physiotherapy History Association (IPHA) received nominations for the most important physiotherapists in the world in history. During the three-week nomination period in October 2019, the IPHA received 355 nominations from 48 different physiotherapy personalities. From these nominations, the project committee compiled a list of 25 names, from which a jury selected the 10 greatest physiotherapists in the world – including Berta Bobath.  The article on this selection is available at the following LINK   This is available in 32 languages.

Poland now has a Polish Bobath Therapists Association. The Polish Bobath Therapists Association’s main goal is promoting the Bobath concept in our country, supporting Bobath therapists in developing skills and expanding their knowledge. Isabelle Bohman
Isabelle Bohman, known by her colleagues and friends as “Boh” sadly passed away on Sunday 2nd August following a massive stroke. Boh was one of the founding members of IBITA and was an active IBITA and NDTA instructor for many years.

Marcia Stamer, editor of the NDTA newsletter in the USA will have a short announcement in the upcoming Network which is being completed this week. Then there will be a special segment on Boh in the next Network with memories and tributes. If anyone wants to submit photos or memories her email is [email protected]

Looking for instructors to teach a Basic Course in Istanbul, Turkey
We have been contacted by a therapist who would like to organise a Basic course in Istanbul preferably taught in English. If you would be interested please contact me.
