We would like to welcome three new associate members, Pawel Kiliszek from Poland, Annika Akiko Matsui from Germany and Tatiana Beline de Freitas from Brazil.

Covid-19: The Executive and Education Committees are continuing to work together to provide advice and guidance for planning and teaching IBITA courses during this pandemic. The responses to the Google Survey on course exemptions has informed the Covid-19 Course Exemptions Guidelines that was last updated 31 October 2020 LINK . All members are encouraged to review this document please.Please remember to contact the Executive Committee for all exemptions and questions.

ALL exemption requests will be reviewed to facilitate teaching IBITA courses during these extraordinary times and are used to inform future revisions to our guidelines.

Please be advised that an exemption request is required for ANY component of the core curriculum including online teaching. We are aware that our Rules and Regulations regarding courses and information in the Procedural Manual do not state that teaching on IBITA recognised courses must be face to face. When these documents were written, teaching online was not even considered and therefore we still request that members seek exemptions for teaching any online content, as it has always been our custom and practice (until now) to only teach face to face.The Executive Committee is preparing a AGM 2021 motion to make our documentation more explicit for the future.

Instructor Training Committee
The Instructor Training Committee recognises the pandemic has reduced the educational opportunities for instructor candidates around the globe We had to cancel the Modules planned in Sweden in 2020 and were unable to reschedule as was originally hoped.
Given the ongoing nature of the pandemic the ITC has been working towards supporting instructor candidates through the use of technology, which is currently the only format in which we have certainty we can come together. This has been a steep learning curve for all of us.

In September, one of our colleagues videoed a 3-day course instructed by Mary Lynch-Ellerington in the UK. The title of the course was “Understanding the complexity of postural control for the recovery of the upper limb and hand”
Utilising this resource the ITC plan to offer instructor candidates a series of educational sessions on-line that will include viewing footage collected on this course, supplemented by live online zoom discussions and self-directed work. The details will be provided early in 2021 with an expected start date for these sessions of Spring 2021. A nominal fee will be required upon registration for this series to help support the costs involved to collect, edit and store this material. All details related to registration for this series will be included in upcoming Newsletters as well as on the IBITA website.

Please note: This opportunity is NOT to replace attendance on the ITC Modules but rather to supplement educational opportunities within IBITA through these challenging times.

Research Committee
A reminder that the Research Committee would like to update the list of journals that are searched for articles to add to our library. If you know of any new scientific journals in the field of neurorehabilitation please let us know so we can expand our searches.

Education Committee
The survey responses from the Webinars: Revised Definition of the Bobath Concept – September 2020 have now been collated and are available for your information. LINK
The Education Committee will continue to work on this subject in conjunction with the Research Committee and IBITA members.
