The following is Sarah’s experience at the end of her second term in one of our committees.
For anyone unsure about joining an IBITA committee, the Peer Review Committee is a good place to “dip your toe in the water” and see if you would like to get more involved in IBITA. It’s a small committee of 3 members. We meet throughout the year but the work load of the committee is not as large as many of the other committees, for example the research or education committees. The primary role is to encourage the members to regularly engage in activities which maintain their professional development as an IBITA Instructor. This is promoted through a yearly audit of 5 % of the membership. We are also currently reviewing the CPD audit process and aim to gain feedback from previously audited member on how it could be improved.
I have been a member of the committee since 2019 and will finish my second term next year. Being a member of a committee is a great opportunity for anyone new to IBITA to make connections and feel more involved. During my time on the committee, I have had the opportunity to meet members from other countries, understand more about IBITA, and make new friends.
